cformII and Jing

28-08-2008 – 22:09

I installed cformII on my website. Feel free to try it out.
Ask me whatever you want to know about me and/or my projects.

Click the ‘Contact’ button in the navigation bar or click this link.

This is an image of what it looks like when I receive the e-mail:

As you can see it needs some fine-tuning. For example the title says ‘Your Name’ and it also tells me ‘Your E-mail’ which sounds like it’s my e-mail. It’s easy to fix that.

I’ve also tried Jing. It’s a very useful tool for a BlenderHead that likes to help other people on the forum.

Enjoy..

And here’s some more GMOD.

Review: Hummer vs Helicopter

15-08-2008 – 15:40

Hummer vs Helicopter

I have played the game together with my younger brother (who also plays Crysis and Heroes of Might and Magic) .

Be prepared because we like to tell people why some games suck. Well, actually I like to tell people why a lot of games suck.

I have to say that we can’t call this game finished. Mainly because of balancing issues.

Gameplay

Overall it is OK. I wonder if the others played with two players because that is when you will notice some balancing issues. The helicopter is in fact doomed to loose in most cases. It is hard to aim with it because it is hard to rotate the helicopter and it is hard to see where the missiles will hit and I can barely see where my bullets will hit because the helicopter is flying in front of the bullets most of the time.
The helicopter uses up a lot of fuel, a bit too much fuel in my opinion.
The hummer can last a lot longer and can avoid enemy rockets easily since they will barely hit the target. When they do hit the hummer it suddenly twirls in the air like if it doesn’t weight even a bit. It made us laugh but it is a weight problem that is to be taken serious. The hummer also flips really fast giving the helicopter more chance to damage it. However I missed the hummer most of the time because I couldn’t exactly de term where the missiles/bullets would hit.
The hummer’s gun’s bullets are not actually coming out of the gun but are created above the gun which confuses the player and takes some time to get used to.

Graphics

Could have been better. They look fair from the helicopter’s viewpoint but the hummer sees ugly over-sized textures. A higher texture resolution can really make this game look better.
The lighting is not as good as I hoped. It looks ugly on the player models and it looks like the terrain isn’t affected by it at all.

Sound

I shouldn’t review this because I would be a real bastard if I did.

Copyright

Did he release it under GPL on purpose?

That was my review. Thanks for reading it. I hope AD-Edge will work on the issues I described in my review.

Gameplay: 7.8 out of 10
Graphics: 5.7 out of 10
Sound: 4.6 out of 10

Final rating: 6.0

PS: For the people that read my review, AD-Edge is aware of the fact I was writing a review that pointed out a lot of the issues. Have fun playing the game.

Where did the art go?

07-08-2008 – 19:08

I was just wondering where my 3D art has gone. My 3D Blender stuff. Oh wait. I know. I’ve been too busy playing games and trying game engines and making games.

Here’s a taste of total awesomeness:

PS: Steam removed my screenshots and .dem files when I reinstalled it. So… I lost a lot of GMOD screenshots and demo files.

Gone for a while

26-07-2008 – 09:36

Hello everyone,

I’m of to a campsite for one/two weeks. There are no PCs there (we are taking the PlayStation2 with us :P) so I won’t be able to work on my GMOD images (resizing them etc..) and I won’t be able to convert the .dem files into movies.

I won’t be gone forever! I’ll be back…

Coming Up: My adventures in GMOD!

19-07-2008 – 18:58

I put Blender aside for a while. Why? Well, the title explains it. GMOD.
For those who are unfamiliar with ‘GMOD’. It is actually called “Garry’s Mod”. ‘GMOD’ is an acronym.
It is a sandbox mod for Source games.

I have been playing it for about one to two weeks now and I still can’t stop playing it! I have been playing with a Steam friend (Steam is a software distribution application) day after day. We laugh, we build, we fight and we disconnect (that’s the hard part).

My plan is to publish some screenshots of my adventures in Garry’s Mod on my website. It depends on how everything goes but I might even be able to make a video.

Stay tuned.
