Updates

June 6th, 2010

Hello everyone,

This week I have been working a lot on KYouB and I’ve been trying to finish up some postponed work. (and yeh… couldn’t finish it :(  ) Anyway, I’ve also become part of the Ayleth of Ravenswood team (although not officially yet). I’m going to try to compose a theme for their game like.. pretty soon.

KYouB

I’ve added several new features and I’ve also been bug fixing a lot since I’m porting all the sounds to pyGame and I’ve been coding a nasty console.

New features:

  • Console (primitive)
  • Stupid AI (lol track-to)
  • Bananas (why? … an answer is being calculated)
  • New test level called ‘Developer  Playground’, although not finished yet it already works well as a test environment. That might be caused by the fact that there isn’t much to test yet.
  • pyGame support
  • You no longer need Python to run the standalone Windows version of KYouB. When I have access to other systems I might be able to make that work on other OS’s as well.

Website

I’ve added links to the contact page. Kind of stupid to leave my YouTube account unlinked from AniCator.Com .

Friendly greetings everyone!

It has been quite a while since I have posted a message on my blog. The reason, personal problems and the slow-down in the development of KYouB.

When the development of KYouB slowed down I didn’t have much to post anymore and the updates that I did make to the game were fairly small and I thought I didn’t have enough information to show to you.

When I’m talking about personal problems I am mostly talking about motivational issues. I kind of lost my grip on the future in the last few weeks and I’m currently doing what I want again. This includes finishing KYouB.

Yesterday I let my sister play what currently is KYouB and she really liked it. She also found out about my ‘cheat-keys’ (developer keys that allow a sprint boost and adding coins to-/resetting the coin counter) which wasn’t too great. Seeing her playing did release a sparkle in my head reminding me of what I wanted to become, what I wanted to do. Now I know again I am ready to continue striving to get to that goal.

I am still not sure whether I should become a 3D animator, game designer or composer but I know that KYouB involves all three of them. I will have to work on school projects but if I do it properly then they shouldn’t stand in my way.

I’m lazy, and that’s what I will have to work on. Which I will. I will change my attitude and work efficiently.

Thanks for your attention.

Kind regards,

- Christiaan Bakker

Note: Expect more updates in the next few days/weeks.

KYouB: Development Update #1

March 1st, 2010

Hello interwebz,

As some of you might know, I’m working on a game. It’s name is ‘KYouB’ which by ‘coincidence’ happens to be the name of the main character as well.

KYouB is a work-in-progress adventure game in which you take control of KYouB who is a sweet soft and bouncy cube.

I am still writing the story, only a small portion of it has been finished. I am currently using that portion to work on the first level. I like to work on the game incrementally. It makes it easier for me to know what I can and can’t do or try yet.

The first official level currently looks like this.

Welcome back!

March 1st, 2010

Welcome back to AniCator.Com,

As you can see, the blog has been seperated from the website. I actually wanted to somehow embed the blog into the website but my programming skills are limited so I had to do it like this.

I want to keep the blog neat and clean. We’ll see if I can manage to do that.

The plan is to include more technical posts about projects. These posts will tell more about the features of the games or cool things in animations.

Expect new posts very soon since I’ve got quite a few subjects I can discuss. If you have any questions, feel free to post a comment or e-mail me.
